In our efforts to support blinded veterans through continuing dialog, we will mentor fellow veterans virtually, or through e-mentoring.
What is mentoring?
Mentoring is the informal transmission of knowledge from a mentor to a mentee. The mentor can act as a role model, consultant, problem solver, and supporter. The purpose of a mentor is to help the mentee ‘get up to speed’, to ensure effective learning, to assist and support the mentee, and to enhance knowledge and skills for the mentee.
What does e-mentoring look like or include?
We can support each other virtually through Podcasts, Teleconferencing, and Voiceover internet protocol.
- Peer Support and Teleconferencing Services
The heartland Regional Group is the home of many teleconferencing programs connecting visually impaired Veterans throughout Kansas and Missouri, and even throughout the country.
- The Blinded Veteran Computer Users Conference Call is a way for all Blinded Veterans using computer to share information on the computers that assist in making our lives easier. Whether a Blinded Veteran is using a screen magnification software or a screen reading software, the conference call allows participants to ask questions on and receive answers on their adaptive software.
